The beads are strung on a silver chain inside. 

Sterling mark on the clasp. "Sterling" stamp was a used until around 1940 when the standard "925" mark of today was introduced. 

Purchased in Arizona. Appox weight 72g. Length unclasped 24 inches. Great vintage condition.
