Hand Painted Chinese Vase | Antique
LifeXploreHand Painted Chinese Vase using Famille Rose elements, ornate handles and 3D lizard shapes on the vase neck.
The stamping on the bottom of this vase is "Made in China". This mark was required after 1920 for US import. China generally added "PROC" after 1949. However, marks from China are subject to what may sell best. Consequently, this vase can be dated with a start date of 1920 to today. Acquired at an auction in Scottsdale, this vase is a lovely depiction of a court scene.
Famille rose influences the flowers scattered around the scenes as well as the medallions along the bottom. The colors of the flowers are more pastel then the rest of the vase.
While design elements are derived from Famille Rose, the colors are more earth tone. Muted greens, purples to brown and deeper blues give this vase a color palette to fit in with a wide range of decors from earth tones to blue/white.
8 inches in diameter and 15 high. This is in good condition with wear commensurate with age. No chips or cracks visible.
